  • The Oak Tree Primary Academy Brought Together By a Love for Reading The Oak Tree Primary Academy Brought Together By a Love for Reading

Northern Education Trust’s Oak Tree Primary Academy were thrilled to be able to celebrate World Book Day 2021 with the full academy this year. Delaying the celebration until a week later for all the children to be able to enjoy, The Oak Tree Primary Academy were able to share their love of books together on 9 March.

In the style of the popular singing show, The Masked Singer, The Oak Tree Primary Academy created their own version of The Masked Reader. This involved staff dressing up as a beloved book character and being videoed reading one of their favourite books aloud, hiding their faces behind warped, digital masks. The videos were then shared with students, who eagerly guessed which teacher hid behind each mask.

In KS1, children worked together to design, make and, most importantly, eat a brand new product perfect for Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. Together, KS1 were able to create a scrumptious chocolate button that Roald Dahl himself would have been proud of.

Overall, the event was a fantastic way to bring the whole school together and celebrate being reunited within the academy. Elizabeth Pollitt, Principal of The Oak Tree Primary Academy, wanted to say a huge thank you to all parents for their efforts with costumes and in helping to support and highlight the enjoyment of reading to the children. The day was a fantastic success that brilliantly celebrated The Oak Tree Academy’s love of books.
