Northern Education Trust The Oak Tree Academy celebrates Roald Dahl Day
Staff and students at Northern Education Trust’s The Oak Tree Academy celebrated Roald Dahl’s life as an author on Monday 13 September 2021. Staff and students in the academy dressed up as their favourite characters to show off their love of Dahl’s literature. Throughout each year group, characters like Willy Wonka, The BFG, Matilda and The Twits, were welcomed through the doors on Monday to celebrate the infamous author.
Reading is an integral focus for the staff and students at The Oak Tree Academy and underlies much of the curriculum. Roald Dahl Day was used as a platform to launch our new initiative, Reading Routes, which promotes a love of reading for pleasure. This is just one of the many ways the academy promotes reading and celebrates its importance. Both the children and staff within the academy are enjoying being back at school, making memories and enjoying learning, with Roald Dahl Day being the perfect way to kick start the new autumn term.
